Edward Blue

Drum & Percussion

"My name is Edward Blue. I have been playing for more than a decade. I love playing percussion, but drum set definitely has my heart. Classic Rock and South American music are my favorite genres to listen to when I don’t have a gig to prepare for. I also love to listen and play all styles some of which are classical, all types of rock and jazz, reggae, pop, prog, marching/drumline, indie, folk/country, fusion, etc. I started out in church, and added jazz and rock as I went to middle and high school picking up marching band and drumline along the way. As a result, I am a 2017 Downbeat award winner for best high school jazz combo. Won champs in my division and moved up in division during my drumline career. Played for Solano County high school Jazz band a couple times and was a recipient of the Louis Armstong award. I learned mostly from the internet how to play drums with no private teachers. I did have instructors and band teachers that saw my willingness and earnest behavior to push and gave me harder music. Which helped propel my music career. I am a 1st call sub for drummers from the capital of California to the bay area. I have played with many talented musicians. Ranging from people who are local pros and community bands. To those who defined genres and eras of music, and the kids of those legends who carry on the legacy. Corporate to local gigs, I have done them all. What you will learn: I have the tools and information to develop a firm understanding of the basics. How to understand and apply new skills and natural talent to percussion and drum set no matter the level of proficiency. Give insight on what it means to be a sideman, how to become a working musician, how to not get fired from a band, how to practice and prepare. I will teach rudiments and grooves that are essential in understanding percussion and drum set. How to read rhythms and interpret the music as not everything we do can be written on paper."

Edward Blue provides top-notch drum & percussion lessons here at Gordons Music and Sound in downtown Fairfield, CA.
